-
Currently, full mobile service is available in Calgary and area. Scrubs also offers limited mobile service in Edmonton, Canmore, Banff and elsewhere in Alberta, and our Nurse Practitioners are licensed to provide virtual care throughout the province. If you are outside of Calgary and interested in Scrubs coming to your area, please let us know!
-
Scrubs care providers offer a range of medical testing, from basic bloodwork to comprehensive health screening, sexual health testing and more. Specialized testing is also available, including prenatal diagnostics and genetic testing to optimize mental health drug delivery. Scrubs also offers medical consults.
-
If Scrubs collects a sample for a test ordered by your doctor or other care provider, the results flow back directly to your provider; we don’t see them. In the case of self-order tests, the lab sends results to Scrubs and they will be accessible to you through our patient portal. In most cases, they will also appear on Netcare, which you can access through MyAlberta health records. However, for certain tests, where you may desire more privacy, the test can be configured so the results are not posted on Netcare.
-
Scrubs partners with accredited diagnostic laboratories to deliver fast, reliable results. In Calgary, samples collected for all provider-ordered tests and most samples for self-ordered tests are analyzed in the same labs used by the public system, including Dynalife, Alberta Precision Labs and the public health lab operated by AHS (ProvLab). For certain self-order tests, Scrubs may deploy point-of-care testing on Health Canada approved devices, or the test may be performed by a private accredited lab.
-
Yes! Scrubs is the first private company in Canada that permits individuals to order an STI test without a doctor visit. Samples can be collected in the privacy of your home. We provide fast, discreet results, and follow up care or a prescription, if required.
-
If you have a health spending account as an employment benefit, most fees should be reimbursable. If you have a lab requisition and need bloodwork, you’ll only pay a collection fee; we don’t typically charge lab fees as they are covered by public insurance, although there are exceptions as some tests ordered by health practitioners are not covered by the system. Please ask your insurance provider to confirm if they will cover your fees.
-
If you book a consult or require follow-up from a self-ordered test, you will meet with a Nurse Practitioner. Nurse Practitioners are registered nurses (RNs) who have undertaken training in advanced clinical practice and are able to diagnose and treat illness., order and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe medication and provide specialist referrals. We also have lab techs, registered nurses and paramedics on our platform.
-
Many clients of Scrubs have a doctor and home clinic, but love our fast and convenient mobile lab service and specialized tests. If your doctor gives you a lab requisition, you can typically receive same day or next day testing, with results sent to the ordering physician. If you book with the public lab system, you may wait weeks for an appointment. You should always seek the advice of your physician or other qualified healthcare provider with any questions you have regarding your medical care.
-
All of the laboratories with whom we partner are industry leaders in their respective areas, with extensive histories and have performed millions of tests. All of them perform frequent internal quality controls and testing, as well as regular third-party testing for independent validation of the accuracy of their testing. If you have questions about accuracy or quality of your test results please email us at info@scrubshealth.com.
-
When receiving multiple laboratory tests, having one or multiple results outside the normal range is common. The level of concern is based on the specific test and degree outside the normal range. Many reference ranges are based on statistical generalizations of “normal” values from large groups of healthy people. With any statistics in a population, individuals on either end of the cut-offs may still be healthy. Diagnosing disease is often a combination of lab results and clinical presentation. Therefore, we always recommend sharing any abnormal results with your healthcare provider.
